Our High Streets and Town Centres have been evolving and changing for centuries, but the rise of on-line shopping and the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic have seen some dramatic changes within just a few years.

It is now widely accepted that the future role of the Town Centres will be different to their traditional function as a primary shopping destination. The Government has responded to these changes by making a raft of measures, particularly during the pandemic, designed to ensure that commercial properties in the High Street and Town Centres can adapt quickly and flexibly to changing requirements.

More radically, it has recently published a White Paper entitled “Planning for the Future” which includes proposals to change the way that Planning operates across England – with just three main designations of land – for Growth, for Renewal and for Protection.

We will be joined by Derek Stebbing who is a Planning Policy Consultant with Strutt & Parker, Derek will describe these policy changes in greater detail and is in association with ICAEW South Essex.

During this webinar we will:-

  • Explore the current trends affecting High Streets and Town Centre
  • Look at the Government’s proposed policy responses
  • Bring guests up to date on a rapidly changing situation, particularly in
    terms of Planning

This webinar will take place virtually on Zoom. Once you have registered to join, you will be sent a link to connect and to add to your diary prior to the meeting.
