Essex Business Adaptation Grant Scheme

You can get funding to make adaptations to your premises or operations. This could help you remain operable during the restrictions or improve Covid-safety in your venue.

Eligibility is decided by district, borough and city councils. Visit your district, borough or city council to view the criteria and apply for funding.

Localised and Additional Restrictions Support Grants

Businesses that were severely impacted or forced to close due to COVID-19 restrictions may be eligible for grant funding through the Localised and/or Additional Restrictions Support Grants.

To view the full criteria and apply for a grant, visit your district, borough or city council.

Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS)

You may be eligible for a loan of up to £150,000 through the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS). The Let’s Do Business Group is an accredited delivery partner of the scheme from British Bank. Visit the Back to Business website for more details.

Kickstart Scheme

You can get funding through the Kickstart Scheme to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment.

The scheme covers 100% of the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage (depending on the employees’ age), your National Insurance contributions and minimum automatic enrolment contributions, plus a budget of £1,500 to help to cover training and support costs for each placement.

Essex County Council’s Kickstart Essex Gateway has been approved by the Department of Work and Pensions. It offers a free service to small and medium sized businesses and public sector organisations enabling them to benefit from the scheme.

To register with Kickstart Essex please email: kickstartessex@essex.gov.uk.

You can also find out more about the Kickstart Scheme on gov.uk.

Hospitality: Apply for more outdoor space

It is now easier to apply to use pavements, parking bays and roads as outdoor space. You will need a licence and you may also need other types of permission first.

We offer four packages which each allow you to use a different type of outdoor space for furniture. If you are in Tier 3, you can apply now to prepare to welcome more customers back to your venue.

Visit the Essex County Council website to find out about the packages available and how to apply.
